Diet control

I have gained so much weight. I am going on a diet”Hold it! Do you even know what a diet is? I don’t think most people know what the word diet means. The word diet means the things which we eat and drink. Going on a crazy diet won’t make you lose weight but instead makes you weak and you might even end up in the hospital. You wouldn’t want that to happen, would you? I don’t think so. So, follow these five simple steps and you will lose weight and won’t end up in the hospital either.Eat healthy: The first step towards a healthy body is to eat healthy. Don’t take in too much starch or fats. Eat food containing less cholesterol. Eat all classes of food; even those yucky greens, which many of you despise, because they contain your daily energy supply and don’t even make you fat.Exercise daily: It is the best way to keep fit and it burns down extra fat. You should exercise regularly. Every one of us should exercise at least half an hour daily. Exercising will make blood flow smoother and will also give a healthy colour to your cheeks.Sleep well: It has been proven by today’s most advanced research that children who sleep less are likely to be overweight. You should take at least eight hours of sleep daily. This gives your body time to relax.Snacking in between meals: This is a major NO! Don’t snack between meals. Eat proper meals only. Eat more but don’t take a little after every few minutes. And when you are hungry what’s better than a serving of fat free fruit or vegetable? So chow down.Be active: Just don’t sit around like a couch potato, be active. Put an end to those lazy habits and if you have nothing to do then clean your house. Participate in after school activities and in different types of competitions. This will not only keep your body healthy but keep you mentally alert and fit.So, follow these few simple steps and you will be as fit as a fiddle in no time.

Pamper yourself

Skin careMost people know that using sunscreen protection is essential. There are a number of ways to promote a healthy glow without exposing your skin to harmful rays. To help avoid damages to skin when playing outdoors on a hot, sunny day here are a few tips:• It is important for teenagers to begin a daily face wash regimen, which exfoliate the skin of all the excess skin cells and oils.• Apply sunblock on all parts of body that are exposed to sun, before going out.• The skin around the eyes is 10 times thinner than the skin of the rest of the face. Protect not only your eyes, but also the skin around them by wearing sunglasses that block 90 per cent to 100 per cent of the sun’s ultraviolet rays. Now that you know how to protect the outer skin, it’s time to start thinking about what you can do to obtain a healthy glow from the inside out. Instead of using harmful chemical products, the best way to obtain a healthy glowing skin is the natural way, i.e. doing some form of exercise, which gets the blood circulating and delivers fresh oxygen to the skin all over your body. The next step is to drink plenty of water. Outdoor play or exercise, especially in the summer, increases your risk of dehydration. This is one risk you don’t want to take since it not only affects your performance and robs your skin of vitality, but it may also be potentially hazardous to your health.Be sure to drink fluids before, during and after physical activity. To replenish your fluids after any outdoor activity, weigh yourself before you participate and then weigh again after. Any weight you lost is water and should be replaced by drinking two glasses of water for every pound you have lost.Hair careSunrays are not only harmful for your skin but summer sun and humidity can also damage your hair’s cuticle and result in dry, drab, split, brittle or frizzy hair and ends.Hanging out in the sun without protection for your hair and scalp is the worst thing you can do. Use leave in hair products with SPF protection when you go outside or wear a hat or scarf to cover your hair.Consider washing your hair less often during the summer months to allow your hair to absorb more moisture. When possible, finish with a cool to cold rinse to seal the hair cuticle and impart natural shine.Don’t be careless about your trims. Make sure you have the ends trimmed every six to eight weeks during the summer months. When your ends are frizzy, it’s a sure sign that they are either damaged, split or both.PedicureA great pedicure will have you feeling confident about baring your feet this summer, or wearing your favourite sandals.Everyone knows that a good pedicure involves giving your feet a soak. But before that don’t forget to file your nails. Start by removing old nail polish with an acetone-free formula (keeps nails from getting dry and brittle). Follow the natural curve of your nails when filing. After soaking, apply a soothing lotion to your feet before bedtime, slip on the socks, and go to sleep. They work much the same way as the heated mitts for your hands. The overnight therapy works extra magic. In the morning, your feet will be as soft as silk!ManicureGo for the French manicure this summer. A French manicure is a style of polishing the nails wherein white paint is applied to the tips of the fingernails, and the rest of the nails are given a pink coat or painted with sheer polish that is coloured either pale pink or very light beige. The French manicure is very good for short and moderate nail length.

Holiday Beauty Tips From International Make-Up Artist and Fashion Guru William Squire

LOS ANGELES, CA, Dec 16, 2008 (MARKET WIRE via COMTEX) -- Wondering how to look dazzling for holiday gatherings? International make-up artist, fashion guru, professional model, agent, author and Your Signature Style host William Squire provides tips to make you sparkle.
To kick off the holidays, Squire and friends made over women at a senior center near his home in Palm Springs, then presented them and the male residents with gifts and a holiday party. "Everyone wants to look their best, no matter what their age is," says Squire. "To glow this holiday season, think glimmer, shimmer and shine!" he adds, along with these tips:
1. With colder weather upon many parts of the country, you may need a heavier cream or a moisture mask, such as Lancome's Aqua Fusion Continuing Infusing Moisturizer.
2. For a flawless-looking complexion, apply foundation with a brush in small downward strokes, continuing down to the neck. I love MAC's foundation brush #190 and Kevyn Aucoin's Liquid Airbrush Creme Foundation.
3. For a spectacular glow, try Chanel's Poudre Precieuse Gold Highlighting Powder with Brush, Yves Saint Laurent's Touche D'or Golden Touch for the Face or your favorite gold dust.
4. Drama and dazzle starts with the eyes; silver, gold and metallic eye shadows are all the rage. Go light or heavy, no rules apply: just be sure to blend well. NARS single eye shadows in Silent Night or Bombshell are perfect for every festive occasion. Now's the time to pull out your black eyeliner and go wild. Go heavier along the top of the lashes and toward the outer corner, and a bit softer under the eye for the perfect smoky eye. Follow with two coats of black mascara.
5. Always wanted to try false eyelashes but are intimidated? Buy some individual lashes and clear eyelash glue (don't get white). Use tweezers to dip the ends in a small amount of glue and place on outer corners of lashes and hold for a moment. Three or four lashes make a huge impact.
6. This time of year is perfect for red lipstick and nail polish. Just make sure that the red on your nails is in the same color family as the red on your lips. Great alternatives to red polish are white, beige, gold or soft-pink pearlized colors, such as Chanel's Le Vernis in Perle Rose. For great reds, OPI's Red Hot Gift and Little Red Wagon are among my favorite polishes.
7. Unsure of which season to wear -- fabrics like silk, taffeta, organza, crepe de chine, tulle, satin or velvet? The time is now. Put the jeans aside and dress up. Pull out that stunning black velvet jacket, cocktail dress or dressy slacks instead. Black and dark hues are worn in abundance: mix it with head-to-toe winter white, or mix in taupes, grays and browns. Wear jewelry that sparkles and shines -- cocktail rings, costume jewelry, big earrings and pins.
8. For a final touch dab pure perfume, like Nuit de Noel by Caron, on your pulse points. Perfume is actually lighter than eau d' toilette, which contains alcohol that gives it a stronger smell.
"Now all that's left to do is exude confidence, have fun and know that no one else in the world has the same beauty as you."
To help women find their individual style, Squire and model/author Laura Boulay co-created Your Signature Style, which Squire now presents with former supermodel, actress and beauty expert Lisa Dean. In this ninety-minute transformational program, Dean and Squire get participants on their feet so they can practice how to walk like a model, enter a room with confidence, and stand for the perfect picture. Clients include Mercedes-Benz PGA Championships, Meeting Planners International, Deloitte & Touche, Saks Fifth Avenue and the Ritz-Carlton hotels. Squire and Boulay also collaborated on the "The Model's Workbook," to provide information and tips for people who want to succeed in the modeling industry.
